Linwood police released a statement saying only that Erland V. Chau, 72, was charged with harassment, disorderly conduct, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose stemming from an incident in the Mainland Regional High School on Oct. 1.

Chau is the mayor of Northfield.

Police did not release further details in the incident, however, a report from the BreakingAC said Chau brandished a starter pistol during a confrontation with a woman blocking him in as he was trying to back out of a spot. Chau is reportedly an official for the NJSIAA and was wearing an NJSIAA-issued jacket at the time of the confrontation, BreakingAC said citing the affidavit.

The woman called school security, who called the police, BreakingAC said.
